Evaluation Question 4

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation question 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

I showed my main media product and ancillary texts to a variety of people within the age group of my target audience to see whether they thought my products were effective together. I also asked whether they would consider seeing the film or even buying the magazine and here is some of the feedback i got back:

These were only a few examples of people I interviewed about my media products, overall they thought that they worked well together. However, one of the points that was most common is that the magazine could have been worked on more.

My target audience was predominantly males aged 17-25 and the feedback from them was mainly positive therefore i feel i succeeded in reaching the audience i was aiming for. I found out that horror is less appealing to a female audience and that they would not go to see my film. Even though they didn't like the concept of the film, they thought that the trailer was nicely edited and were able to appreciate the work that had gone in to it.

In conclusion, i learnt that horror is less appealing to girls but seeing as my target audience was males ages 17-25 i feel i have succeeded in the task.

Evaluation Question 2

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Click on the link above.

As for where my media product stands in the film industry, it is a low budget, self-promoted film. It hasn't been funded by a major distribution company and therefore has had to make it's way through film festivals. The main reason for this is because the film itself doesnt follow all the conventions of horror so distributors would'nt be interested. In a sense my product challenges the conventions by simply being a low budget film that used its own means for success.

Movie Plot - Paranoid

The story of my film is about a teenager, James, with problems at home and decided to cope with them by indulging himself in drugs. He has developped a schizoid side to him whitch his family find hard to deal with and his friends don't know about. He proposes to a few of his friends to go for a night out in the woods for some drug-related fun. Once up there James pulls out of his pocket an unknown drug that triggers his paranoia. The night leads him into thinking he is being chased by monsters and evil creatures. Because of these visions he takes action and decides to kill the monsters before they get to him. However he doesnt realise that the visions of these 'monsters' are in fact his friends and goes on to kill them all in a mad moment. When he realises what he has done he can't cope with the guilt and turns himself in.

Trailer Research

Monsters (2010) - This movie trailer has the low budget factor in in that i wish to use in mine. Also the fact that the monsters are rarely seen and the filming is adapted around that is something i wish to achieve in my own. The fast editing towards the end builds up the suspense and is one of the conventions of horror; I wish to use this trait.
